Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Health Care

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Toolkit

ASH is committed to enhancing the care and well-being of all individuals, including patients, their families, and their wider communities. This commitment requires an ongoing effort by all medical providers to gain and maintain awareness of social determinants of health and health disparities within our respective communities and strive towards mitigating their negative effects, thus improving health equity. These social determinants are intertwined with structural racism. However, ASH recognizes that broader inequities persist beyond racism, including but not limited to gender and sexual identity inequities, those affecting the differently-abled, and inequities facing minority communities on a global scale. These health disparities must be addressed along with anti-racism efforts to truly affect wide-reaching change. The ASH Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) toolkit serves to augment ASH's anti-racism focus by highlighting other healthcare inequities and similarly providing resources for clinician, researcher, and educator members of ASH.
