The Dana Farber/Mass General Brigham Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Program has a history of providing outstanding clinical and research training to future leaders in hematology and oncology. Beginning in July 2023, in addition to the Hematology/Oncology Track, we will offer a Hematology Focused Fellowship Track (HFFT). Following the initial year of clinical training, all fellows pursue two or more years of immersive research.
During the first year of clinical training, fellows in the HFFT will divide their time between the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Brigham and Women's Hospital. The combined institutions have more than 1,400 inpatient beds and 100 dedicated Hematology faculty. Fellows will become skilled clinical hematologists by rotating through malignant and non-malignant clinical experiences including inpatient consult services, outpatient clinics, transfusion medicine, coagulation, hematopathology, and cellular therapies. Trainees will also attend a wide variety of conferences including joint conferences with the fellows in the Hematology/Oncology Track and conferences designed specifically for the HFFT fellows.
In the second year and beyond, HFFT fellows will transition to a period of in-depth clinical, translational, and/or basic science research. A variety of investigative opportunities are available at all three institutions as well as in laboratories at Harvard Medical School, Boston Children's Hospital, and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Fellows will maintain a longitudinal hematology continuity clinic in the disease area and campus of their choosing.
