International Outreach Initiative

Since 1999, ASH has distributed educational materials to hospitals and universities in low- and middle-income countries through its International Outreach Initiative (IOI). The goal of the IOI is to help address hematology-related needs in these areas, with regards to research, practice, and training.
The ASH International Members Committee oversees the IOI.

The online educational materials that are available through the IOI include:

Eligibility Requirements
- The applicant must be from a low- or middle-income country.
- The applicant must be affiliated with a hospital, university, clinic, or a cooperative group of institutions within an eligible region. ASH will not consider applications for personal or individual use.

A variety of offerings have been developed by subject-matter experts to meet your professional education needs. Activities include online courses, webcasts, and simulations. Not all products on ASH Academy On Demand are available at no cost to the public.
is a magazine for ASH members and non-members alike – offering news and views for the broader hematology/oncology community. Each month, ASH Clinical News provides the latest updates in the field – from on-site conference reporting, to the latest trials published in Blood, to policy issues affecting the science and practice of hematology – as well as perspectives and opinions from key leaders. The publication will also provide tools and resources to help clinicians with quality and performance improvement, patient education, and the economics of running a practice.
is a semimonthly medical journal published by ASH which provides an international forum for the publication of original articles describing basic laboratory, translational, and clinical investigations and guidelines in hematology. The journal covers all aspects of hematology, including disorders of leukocytes, both benign and malignant, erythrocytes, platelets, hemostatic mechanisms, vascular biology, immunology, and hematologic oncology.

, which debuted in 2018, features a selection of Blood articles curated by a team of leading hematologist in the region, covering the full aspects of hematology, including malignant and non-malignant disorders. The articles are presented in an educational format with key learning points, Question & Answers, and the local perspective of an expert from the continent, presented in Spanish and Portuguese language.
The editors of Blood are pleased to introduce a new , published weekly in conjunction with each issue of Blood. Each episode will highlight selected content from recent articles published in the journal. You can listen on the ASH website, iTunes, Google Play, and Spotify.
